Who We Are

Beverly McElroy: Director Chiropodist/Podiatrist. Beverly Qualified in 1989 with a diploma in Podiatric Medicine from Northampton School of Podiatry. She then went on to work for Bedford Health Authority where she specialised in biomechanics and Paediatrics. This also involved a great understanding of the rheumatoid and diabetic foot due to the involvement of prescribed footwear and orthotics. The opportunity arose in 1998 for her to start working in the private sector and due to family commitments she left the NHS in 2001 and continued to build her business.

Mr Seán Heath: Seán is from Belfast. Unfulfilled and disillusioned with 9-5 office life he pursued a career change. With the need to do a job that makes a difference and help people he chose to study podiatry due to a strong family link. He graduated in 2016 from the University of Northampton with a BSc (Hons). Originally working in Nottingham upon qualifying before returning to work for Northampton Town Football Club. Seán works privately between Northampton and Bedford and has a friendly outgoing personality. “I really enjoy working with the vast age ranges we see, from toddlers through to senior citizens. Actually making a difference and helping people gives my job purpose and me satisfaction in creating solutions.”

Mrs Ann Exton: Ann was born in Cumbria and qualified with a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine in 1989, and studied again in 1991 to achieve a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. Ann is passionate about improving foot health through relaxed and friendly patient care. Ann joined the team in 2013 and has been very involved with the business development since then. Her care for her patients is outstanding and very valued.

Miss Tina Harrisskitt: Tina graduated from the University of Northampton with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry and joined the team in 2022. Her interest in the lower limb began whilst seeing patients in her career as a soft tissue therapist. ”I often saw people who were suffering with chronic lower back, hip & knee pain, and became fascinated how the foot was often the cause or contributing factor to their pain.’’ Tina is a people person and is passionate about helping patients to maintain their daily activities levels through her holistic approach to patient care.

Mrs Adrianne Jeffery: Adrianne studied and qualified at the University of Northampton in 2020. She is the newest member of the team but has already become very popular with patients due to her pleasant bedside manner and excellent clinical skills. Adrianne also works in the NHS and her areas of interest are diabetes and vascular studies, but she also loves debriding callus! What’s the difference between a podiatrist and a chiropodist?

There’s no difference between a podiatrist and chiropodist, but the name podiatrist is a more modern name.

What we treat: Podiatrists are healthcare professionals who have been trained to diagnose and treat abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs. They can also treat and alleviate day-to-day foot problems, including:

  •  Toenail problems, such as thickened toenails, fungal nail infections and ingrown toenails
  •  Corns and calluses
  •  Verrucas
  •  Athlete’s foot
  •  Dry and cracked heels
  •  Flat feet
  •  Heel pain
  •  Sports injuries
  •  Orthotics
  •  Even if your feet are generally in good condition, you might consider having an assessment by one the team.

What happens at the consultation?

At your first consultation, the podiatrist will take a full medical history and assess your podiatry needs. They’ll discuss your concerns with you and then make a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Any minor problems that are picked up can usually be treated on the spot, including the removal of hard skin, corns and calluses. The session is usually completely painless and takes 45 minutes.
